How we got here

I'd watched social drive real pipeline in B2C and prosumer spaces for years, and I kept thinking: LinkedIn and B2B are next. The timing just hadn't caught up yet.

So I tried it myself—launched an employee advocacy program in-house at a previous company. The results surprised me. People actually showed up. Even executives. Participation was way higher than I expected, and it clicked: this works when you make it easy and actually fun.

That experience is what Empanada is built on. Not a theoretical “your team should post more” lecture—a tool that makes it happen.

Why “Empanada”?

I grew up visiting South Texas a lot—lots of Mexican food, pan dulce, the whole thing. Empanadas have always been a favorite.

When I started looking for a name, I wanted something that echoed “employee advocacy” without being painfully on-the-nose. Empanada just felt right the moment I landed on it. Warm, a little unexpected, and honestly? Just a name I love.

I come from a marketing background—the long way around. I started by marketing my own small business (a coffee shop in Austin, TX), exited that, and joined a small digital marketing agency where I managed a content team and led SEO and strategy. From there I moved into B2B marketing.

Along the way I fell in love with what LinkedIn can do—not just for sales, not just for job hunting, but for building real relationships as a professional. I try to bring my personality to the platform and make it a more fun, interesting place. That philosophy is baked into Empanada.

I also write Marketer Gems, an email newsletter delivering stellar content to 14,000+ marketers every week. Right now I'm building Empanada and looking for beta users while keeping that going.
